I'm Matt Wallace — a Calgary-based photographer, naturalist, and guide with a passion for capturing real moments, wild places, and the everyday beauty that surrounds us. Through Citizen Blitz, I offer creative, documentary-style photography for businesses, individuals, communities, and organizations across Alberta and beyond.
From weddings and community events to brand stories, portraits, and conservation projects, I bring a thoughtful, grounded approach to every shoot. Going somewhere? Bring me along — whether it’s documenting a camping trip or elopement in the Rockies or capturing the energy of a festival or family gathering somewhere new.
Beyond photography, I’m a skilled naturalist and birder, deeply passionate about the wildlife, ecosystems, and hidden corners of Alberta’s parks and green spaces. I’ve spent years leading walks, hosting workshops, and helping people connect with nature (even in their own backyards). You may know me as the organizer of the Calgary City Nature Challenge or the coordinator of Calgary’s Christmas Bird Count.
I love to help people engage with nature and offer guided nature tours in and around Calgary — tailored experiences that highlight birds, plants, and local natural history. If you're into the urban, I’d be happy to show you some of my favorite places and share why they help make our city great. My walks combine storytelling, ecology, and exploration for anyone curious about the life happening in our city and along the trails.
My long-term goal is to work full-time as a conservation photographer, documenting wildlife, landscapes, and the people and groups working to protect them. Until then, I’m here to help tell your story — wherever it takes us.
